Deck of Cards Torn in Half

Place the left half of the 52 card deck on the palm of the left hand, the left thumb resting on the lower left side of the deck and the four fingers grasping it tightly by the bottom. The right hand holds the other side of the deck in a reverse position, the right thumb resting on the upper right side. Hold them firmly and bend them in the middle to weaken them. Then twist the hands in opposite directions, right hand to the right and left hand to the left, like screwing the cap off a jar. Do it a few times and you will notice the cards tearing in the middle. Do this until they are completely torn apart.
At first you might want to rest the left hand on one knee for support when bending and twisting the deck. After some practice you won't need to use the knee. Also, the first few times you might want to start with less cards, and add more as you go.
Some people are so good at this they can tear the deck into quarters.

Twenty-Six Drop Pop

I was sitting around with a bunch of old high school friends, talking about what we had all been up to recently. I mentioned some of the subjects that were going to be in this book. One of my friends said he had a real jewel for me. He picked up the whisky bottle that we had just emptied, turned it up side down and pounded the bottom of it with his palm to get every drop out of it. Then he handed the bottle to me and said to wave it around in the air until it was completely dry inside.
After getting tired of waving and being completely satisfied that the bottle was dry, I handed it back.
He looked at the bottle and said that there were still twenty-six drops in it. He placed a napkin on the table and said: "Get ready to count them." He took out a lighter and ran the flame all around the outside of the bottle to heat it up.
Sure enough, the alcohol fumes turned to liquid and he poured out twenty-six drops. There was still another ten or fifteen drops left. He said they were for him, and drank them.

The Flies have it

Have a cup of coffee with a friend. Dip a piece of bread in your coffee and put it on the saucer. Ask your friend to do the same and challenge him that whoever attracts the most flies to his piece of bread wins. You could bet and win one hundred dollars a fly!
Secret: Before you offer the bet, pour lots of sugar in your cup of coffee when your friend isn't looking.

The Edible Candle

You can make one from the fleshy part of an apple and a piece of walnut which will be used as a wick. (Walnut burns). Bon Appétit!

The Ice Candle

Mix in a test tube an equal part of water and ether, shake very well. Place the tube in a small container that holds an equal part of ice and salt.
Once the candle is frozen, you can light it.

One Hundred Words Bet

Bet someone that you can quickly say one hundred words in a row without using the letters A, B, C, J, K, M, P, Q, Z.
Secret: Count from one to one hundred. None of these words contain the above letters. Or you could simply say "One hundred words, one hundred words" for an easy trick to play on pals.

The Big Hit

Here is a way to break a rock with your bare fist. Use a limestone rock and let it soak in water overnight. The limestone acts like a sponge, absorbing the water into its pores which will rot the stone. It is then placed on a flat surface. Now raise your hand closed into a fist, and hit it right in the middle with the side of the fist, not with your knuckles.
The stone instead of your hand should break into pieces.

Dry Coin

Pour enough water into a dinner plate to just cover a quarter and drop the quarter in. Challenge anyone to pick up the coin without getting their fingers wet.
Secret: It can be done. Cut a cork lengthwise so that it floats easily on its flat side. Then stick two lit wooden matches on top of the floating cork.
Place a glass next to the quarter, on top of the burning matches and cork. A vacuum is created and the water will be sucked inside the glass. You can now pick up the quarter without getting your fingers wet.

Out of Reach

Here is a funny bar bet that you can't lose. Have someone stand against a wall with his heels touching it. Now place a ten dollar bill at his feet.
Challenge him to pick up the bill without bending his knees or moving his feet. There is no way he'll be able to get it, so your bill is safe.
Secret: The reason he can't bend over is because the wall stops him from moving his back.
