of the more iconic comedic slapstick staples. Mental Floss writes that it seems to have started on Vaudeville,
pointing to early 20th century comedians “Sliding” Billy
Watson and Cal “Uncle Josh” Stewart as two people who were
pioneers of the gag. It’s because of this association with comedy,

Metro has turned the tables on one
slippery scam artist, charging him with fraud after he was caught on
video dropping a banana peel in an elevator, then slipping on it in
order to snag a big settlement from WMATA."
